Priming the Boom

I made an attempt to prime the boom on Thursday, June 9th; however, the results were not what I was intending.
I began by removing hardware: fair leads, cheek blocks, etc., and then sanding to remove oxidation. Next, I applied West System's aluminum prep - a two-part system that chemically etches the surface to create good adhesion for the primer paint. This step proved simple. I applied the two-part system with no issue, allowed the boom to dry, and then applied Interlux Pre-Kote. I left the boom to dry overnight, and Friday evening, I set-up to sand and apply another coat of primer. The above picture is the boom after one coat of primer.
I sanded the boom with 180 grit, blew the surface off, and finally wiped the boom down with Interlux 333 - this may have been the error...

As I wiped down the surface the primer began to come off onto the rag. The pictures below are the result after I wiped the surface with Interlux 333. Oh well. I will plan to sand the boom down on Saturday and then review the surface in preparation for the next attempt. Plastic Classic Forum, here I come!
